Edoardo Bove, a midfielder for Viola, had a medical emergency, which caused the Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter to be interrupted.
Bove has been transported to the Careggi hospital, which is close to the Stadio Franchi, and is breathing on his own, although he has not yet regained consciousness, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The game was called off and it is postponed to undetermined date ahead by Lega Serie A.
The former Roma midfielder abruptly went down as they halted play at the Stadio Franchi to talk about a possible VAR check on a goal that was disallowed by Lautaro Martinez.
His teammates and the Inter players reacted in a panic, hurriedly calling for the medical professionals to arrive.
They also became more irate when the ambulance failed to arrive on the field, but it may have been due to the Stadio Franchi’s ongoing renovations.
Therefore, he was carried away on a stretcher and hurried to the ambulance in the tunnel.
After a while they awaited news, the Fiorentina and Inter players were told to leave the field and head back to the changing rooms.
Bove, a 22-year-old midfielder who came from the Roma development academy, signed a €1.5 million loan deal with Fiorentina this summer.
