Serie A has announced that ANGEL DI MARIA has been suspended for two games for elbowing an opponent during Juventus’ embarrassing loss to promoted Monza.
Five minutes before halftime of Sunday’s 1-0 loss, Monza’s first win in the Italian top division, Argentina winger Di Maria was dismissed for fighting Armando Izzo.
Juventus’ first league loss of the year, which put them in eighth place and seven points behind league leader Napoli, was later attributed to him.
After the international break, when he will play in two pre-World Cup friendlies, the 34-year-old will miss Juve’s trip to champions AC Milan and Bologna’s visit.
