Torino and Lazio have won their opening games in the new Serie A season, so we anticipate a competitive matchup between them on Saturday.
Last time out, Torino narrowly defeated newly promoted Monza while Lazio defeated Bologna.
Six games between both teams have ended in draws three times and wins three times. Lazio winning in their last two meetings at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, and we expect the visitors to pick up another three points this weekend. On paper, Lazio has a much stronger team than Torino, which lost their stalwart forward Belotti this summer to a free transfer. Lazio is led by star striker Ciro Immobile.
Despite not having everything go their way against Monza last weekend, Torino did lead 1-0 at the break thanks to a goal from Miranchuk in the 43rd minute. Even though the score remained close throughout the second half, Torino did manage to take the lead with a goal from Sanabria in the 66th minute. Mota did succeed in getting a goal back for the home team in stoppage time, but Monza ran out of time to create another scoring opportunity.
Lazio had to work hard to defeat Bologna at home last time, as the visitors took a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to an Arnautovic penalty in the 38th minute. With much more purpose in the second half, Lazio scored an own goal by De Silvestri in the 68th minute to tie the score once more. The home team appeared to be even more motivated after that goal, and in the 79th minute, Immobile capitalized on a pass from Milinkovic-Savic to net the game’s decisive goal.
