Samuel Umtiti appears to be going on loan to the Serie A team Lecce from Barcelona this summer.
The transfer has been speculated for a little while, but it now seems that negotiations have persisted and been successful, so Umtiti is likely to play out the remainder of the season in Serie A.
Barcelona is believed to be paying Umtiti’s salary, but he may also be eligible for bonuses based on how many appearances he makes.
Umtiti is believed to be eager to travel to Italy because he wants to familiarize himself with the league before transitioning into coaching after hanging up his boots. The defender will be the newest player to leave the Camp Nou as part of the summer squad restructuring. This will give Lecce a huge boost in the defensive department.
