Napoli triumphed in Cagliari thanks to goals from Buongiorno, Lukaku, Di Lorenzo, and Kvaratskhelia.
Yerry Mina’s huge deflection absolutely wrong-footed Simone Scuffet at the near post, giving Napoli the lucky opening goal. Lukaku laid it off for Giovanni Di Lorenzo on the edge of the box, and the finish was heading for the far bottom corner.
With a quick response, Cagliari forced Alex Meret to make a save from a hard strike by Paulo Azzi, and Sebastiano Luperto made a crucial stop on Lukaku’s tap-in after Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa’s pull-back.
After 400 supporters of both Napoli and Cagliari began hurling things at each other over the barricades on the 25th, it appeared that a banner from the host ultras had provoked the altercation, which caused play to be stopped for seven minutes.
Gaetano’s effort was deflected and Meret got down to push a free header from Roberto Piccoli off the line following a corner, but during stoppage time, the offside flag was raised as Mina struck the crossbar with her shot.
Following the restart, Luvumbo scored on the rebound after Meret made an incredible reaction save on Sebastiano Luperto’s diving header.
On minute 56, Meret produced an even more amazing fingertip stop to deflect a looping, dipping long-range scorcher from Razvan Marin onto the crossbar.
After Lukaku’s through ball sent Kvaratskhelia racing to drill into the bottom corner, Napoli overcame the fright and doubled their lead.
Moments after Scuffet attempted to play out from the back, he passed to Kvaratskhelia, who set up Lukaku for the most straightforward finish from 12 yards, causing Cagliari to collapse and give up the third goal.
Antonio Conte made debuts for Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour, building on a commanding lead. With the final kick of the match, Alessandro Buongiorno added the fourth goal by nodding in a corner from David Neres, which meant the supersub would get another assist.
