In the Derby Della Madonnina, Milan turned the tides of the game defeating reigning champions Inter 2-1 with goals from Pulisic and Gabbia.
Although Pulisic moved quickly to weave into the Inter box, the ball escaped him somewhat and ended up rolling into Sommer’s waiting palms.
Due to an outstanding goal by their winger, Milan deservedly seized the lead from the off. After winning the ball further up the pitch, Pulisic made a strong break past the Inter defense. In the Derby della Madonnina, he surged into the area and slotted past Sommer to give Milan a 1-0 lead.
With a deep cross, Dumfries nodded back into the danger zone, where Martinez was waiting. The forward was only able to strike high over the crossbar. Thuram’s opening shot of the match soared over the crossbar.
Although Inter hasn’t produced much, their wingback has helped them get back on track. Martinez pushed Dimarco to the left of the Milan box as he battled and struggled for the ball. The Italy international took a touch before firing a shot from what would have been a challenging angle into the back of the net making the score 1-1.
Maignan made a key play for his squad by making an amazing stop. Thuram turned and fired after Martinez sent a cross into his path. While Maignan may have been little blind, he skillfully positioned himself to the right to open his palm wide to make an incredible save.
Down the right, Pulisic and Royal connected, and the former Tottenham player lofted a cross toward the back post. Leao charged at it, nodding a strong header goalward, but Sommer stopped the effort with a quick leap to his left.
Dimarco almost scored his second goal of the match after a brilliant Inter move, but Gabbia returned just in time to poke the ball behind for a corner.
Leao does some excellent work, setting up Reijnders to blast the ball goalward. It deflected, but Sommer was up to the challenge and steered clear of harm.
Martinez was picked out in the center by Dimarco, who came in from the left. The forward chose to shoot first, but Maignan was up to the task once more and stopped the effort.
Abraham laid it to Leao’s left as Milan rushed forward on the counter. The Portugal international appeared to be going to blast the Rossoneri in front, but Sommer made a great stop.
After Reijnders played a beautiful ball to put Abraham in. The striker took his time setting himself up and trying to hit the far corner, but the ball sailed wide as he was unable to get it on target.
GOOAALLL!!! With their center-half undoubtedly winning the Derby della Madonnina, this might be a significant goal for the Rossoneri and Fonseca. Reijnders delivered a free-kick, and Gabbia rose above his defender to head the ball into the upper corner with incredible skill.
Darmian was the recipient of a ball that Dimarco blasted into the penalty area. He was unable to jump high enough to reach the target with his header, though, as it went well over the crossbar.
Milan caught Inter on the counter and Okafor fired wildly over the bar however Milan secured all three points with an impressive display of football.
