Napoli held defending champion Internazionale to a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, extending their lead at the top of the Serie A table by one point.

At Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday night, the much awaited Serie A match between Internazionale and Napoli ended in a tense 1-1 tie. Early in the game, Scott McTominay took the league leaders the lead, but Hakan Calhanoglu equalized for the home team to guarantee a point. As a consequence, Napoli maintained their lead in the Serie A rankings.

Scott McTominay gave Napoli the lead, but near the end of the first half, Hakan Calhanoglu’s rocket tied the score for Inter. In the second half, the Turkish midfielder missed a fantastic opportunity to win all three points by hitting the woodwork from the penalty spot.

The Turkey international failed to score this time after having scored all 19 of his other penalties, including the game-winning one against Arsenal in the middle of the week.

The ball was sent into McTominay’s path from a corner, and he poked it past Yann Sommer to give the visitors the lead early in the first half.

At the end of the first half, Calhanoglu hit a fantastic equalizer from outside the box into the top corner, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Despite dominating a fierce match between two outstanding teams, Simone Inzaghi’s team enters the international break in fourth place, one point behind Napoli.

With 25 points from the first 12 games, Napoli remains one point ahead of all teams in second to fifth place in the league.
