A Sassuolo team severely impacted by a whooping cough outbreak successfully held Juventus at bay, as Andrea Pinamonti responded to Kenan Yildiz, with Manuel Locatelli’s late penalty being saved.
In the third minute, Arijanet Muric was called into action to make a save as Manuel Locatelli found space for a free header from Boga’s corner. Shortly after, Tarik Muharemovic blocked Francisco Conceicao’s volley following a knockdown from Weston McKennie.
Juventus made a breakthrough with a direct style of play, as Mattia Perin seized a corner and swiftly sent a long ball to Conceicao on the right. The Portuguese talent skillfully cut inside and delivered a pass for Kenan Yildiz, who finished with precision into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Khephren Thuram surged forward to test Muric’s gloves, with the goalkeeper also deflecting a looping effort from Yildiz over the bar. However, Sassuolo posed a threat as well when Andrea Pinamonti headed over from close range at the back post after Jay Idzes flicked on a corner.
For Juventus, Conceicao skillfully maneuvered to the by-line and delivered a precise pull-back for Pierre Kalulu, who narrowly missed the far bottom corner from a highly advantageous position.
Just before half-time, a crucial toe deflection from Lloyd Kelly diverted the Domenico Berardi roll away from Ulisses Garcia, who was poised to score from six yards out.

Conceicao delivered a cross to the far post, setting up a free header for Boga, but he was thwarted by an incredible reaction save from Muric.
A remarkable moment unfolded as Juventus welcomed Dusan Vlahovic back for his first game since November 2025, while Arkadiusz Milik made his competitive debut since May 25, 2024.
Vlahovic had an instant effect, with his header hitting Idzes on the arm, which was detected by VAR, leading to a late penalty for Juventus. Nonetheless, Locatelli took the initiative, but his feeble, central penalty was easily saved by Muric. Juventus missed their third consecutive penalty in Serie A.
Idzes rectified the mistake with a vital clearance, preventing Vlahovic from tapping in the Kalulu cross. Subsequently, Muric executed a desperate save on the line, thwarting Milik’s towering header and Vlahovic’s follow-up attempt.
