In a night filled with drama and controversy in Rome, Lazio stood their ground amidst penalty disputes, with Pedro finding the net in stoppage time to secure a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina.
David De Gea extended his foot to deflect Toma Basic’s angled shot and prevent Lazio from taking lead, while Gustav Isaksen squandered a potential counter-attack with a feeble pass intended for Cancellieri, enabling Robin Gosens to step in and intercept.

Mario Gila had an even greater opportunity from the resulting corner, as his header was cleared off the line by Nicolò Fagioli. The ball returned to Gila, only for Rolando Mandragora to execute another goal-line clearance.
Lazio expressed their frustration during the subsequent corner, as Gila appeared to be held back by Marin Pongracic following another clearance from Fagioli on Alessio Romagnoli. However, both the referee and VAR dismissed the strong appeals for a penalty.
The Aquile’s fortunes took a turn for the worse when Basic hobbled off due to injury, paving the way for Matias Vecino.
Albert Gudmundsson challenged Ivan Provedel from a narrow angle at the start of the second half, yet Lazio ultimately translated their dominance into results.
Danilo Cataldi expertly controlled a poor clearance, flicking it past a defender before executing a give and go with Vecino, ultimately firing in from nine yards.
Fiorentina responded just four minutes later, as Fagioli lifted a ball over the top for Gosens, who skillfully controlled it acrobatically and directed an angled shot past Provedel into the far bottom corner.
A frantic moment unfolded during a Lazio set piece, with De Gea executing a remarkable double save against Gila’s header and Romagnoli’s subsequent attempt from close range.
Manuel Lazzari joined the injury list, while substitute Kean squandered a promising opportunity by shooting wide during a free kick routine.
The controversy intensified later when VAR prompted the referee to review Gila’s challenge on Gudmundsson, who appeared to drag his foot in an attempt to initiate contact. Despite Provedel getting a hand to it, the penalty was awarded and Gudmundsson successfully converted.
The match was not yet concluded, as the referee noticed Pietro Comuzzo’s tug on Zaccagni’s shirt and awarded a penalty in stoppage time, where Pedro maintained his composure to score past De Gea.
