Lazio rallied for a 2-2 thriller, which featured a weird own goal and a scorching goal from Gustav Isaksen, holding Napoli to their third straight draw.
In the first few minutes, for Napoli Alex Meret pushed a free kick from Nuno Tavares past the near post, but it was simply a warning because Lazio quickly took the lead.
Gustav Isaksen had plenty of work ahead of him and fired a rocket into the roof of the net from 30 yards out after Amir Rrahmani’s feeble headed clearance on the long Ivan Provedel ball.
It didn’t last long because Raspadori and Romelu Lukaku had a quick give-and-go before Scott McTominay intercepted a bad Provedel pass out from the back. Raspadori then hammered the equalizer through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa stopped Isaksen from heading in a Nuno Tavares cross, while Nicolò Rovella’s attempt from the area’s edge was fingertipped over the bar following a powerful Pedro dash forward.
Lukaku stung Provedel’s gloves on a Raspadori assist after the break, but Lazio lost a great chance when Nuno Tavares deftly pulled back, allowing the unmarked Isaksen to bend the shot wide from 12 yards out.
With a frantic play, Napoli drastically changed the course of the match. Matteo Politano, a substitute, had an instant impact. He broke down the right and joined Anguissa and Raspadori to pull back for Raspadori’s angled shot, which bounced into the net after taking a double deflection off Adam Marusic and Gila.
Moments later, Lazio believed they had equalized thanks to a really amazing bicycle kick by Mattia Zaccagni, but Pedro’s knockdown was offside.
With the help of replacement Dia, who spread the play for Zaccagni and was poised to meet the return pass, they were able to square the score. Dia used the inside of his left boot to drive a precise snooker shot into the far bottom corner.
The draw was a fair outcome because there were still enough of opportunities on both ends in extra time. It implies that Inter has the chance to overtake Napoli and assume the lead right now.
