Lecce vs Pisa

Lecce 1-0 Pisa: Lecce away from relegation zone

Lecce have moved significantly away from the Serie A relegation zone following a crucial 1-0 win at home against Pisa in an early six-pointer on Friday evening. Nikola Stulic secured his first goal since joining Lecce from Charleroi over the summer.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s game plan encountered an early setback when Medon Berisha fell to the ground right after delivering a pass to the right wing just seven minutes into the match. He was taken away on a stretcher, and Mohamed Kaba was brought in to take his place after only 10 minutes.

Lecce dominated the attacking play in the first half, with Santiago Pierotti coming closest to scoring after receiving a cut-back from Riccardo Sottil along the byline.

The hosts posed a challenge to Pisa through set-pieces during the first half. Two near attempts came from the same corner half an hour in, with Tiago Gabriel heading off target from just a few yards out before the break.

Ultimately, it was the second-half substitutions made by Eusebio Di Francesco that proved decisive. Lameck Banda, who replaced Pierotti, advanced the ball down the left side and nearly reached the byline before delivering a cutback for Stulic to finish: marking his first Serie A goal in his 14th appearance.
