After Dany Mota scored first goal for Monza, Inter managed to draw the game with late Denzel Dumfries goal.
Playing out from the back, Federico Dimarco let Daniel Maldini get away with shooting wide the first time for Monza. After that, Dimarco found Lautaro Martinez for a free header that went wide as well as the Italian wing-back’s second Frattesi volley.
After the restart, Marcus Thuram headed wide from Benjamin Pavard’s cross, and Kristjan Asllani attempted a hopeful long-range shot, but they were having trouble breaking down Monza.
Rather than taping in the chance, Carlos Augusto, Stefano Turati at full stretch, and Milan Djuric headed a Maldini cross wide at the back stick.
The Nerazzurri were taken aback when Armando Izzo moved into an advanced position and his cross found Dany Mota for a header just as they were throwing everything forward which give Monza the lead.
Denzel Dumfries’ header from a corner was fingertipped over the bar as Inter rallied back. Shortly after, the Dutchman equalized when Carlos Augusto rolled across from the left, tapping in at the back post.
Even with Dimarco limping from a muscle problem and Frattesi collapsing from inside the area, the visitors were determined to win. Monza shown their dangerousness when counterattacking as well, as they became enraged during stoppages when the referee denied them a free kick outside the area instead of letting them take the lead.
