A significant portion of the match was spent with Napoli trailing Monza, but all of a sudden, they came out on top with four beautiful goals, including a header from Victor Osimhen, a volley from Matteo Politano, and a scorcher from Piotr Zielinski.
Alessio Zerbin, who is currently on loan at Napoli, whipped in a cross from the left side for Milan Djuric to hold off Juan Jesus and nod in from six yards out. This was the first time that the home team had broken the tie. It took only nine minutes for the home team to break the deadlock.
Ngonge’s effort was charged down as he dribbled into the area, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s shot from close range was unsuccessful after a corner kick was pinballed around.
When Zerbin made a pretty sloppy tackle at the back post, Ngonge’s penalty requests were rejected, and Monza’s Dany Mota Carvalho suffered a sprained ankle, which resulted in the loss of the player.
At the forty-minute mark, Napoli had a tremendous opportunity when Michele Di Gregorio miscontrolled a back-pass and came dangerously close to putting his toes on the ball before Osimhen made the stop on Kvaratskhelia’s follow-up shot.
After the restart, Ngonge had the ball in the net with an angled shot, but he had wandered offside. Djuric played the role of a defender to prevent Osimhen from tapping in the knockdown that Amir Rrahmani had caused on a corner.
Osimhen catapulted himself into the sky for the most towering of headers, which allowed Napoli to ultimately equalize the score. Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa floated in a cross from the right side, and Osimhen delivered the header. The fact that he fell on his face and cut his lip, but was able to shake it off, indicated that it was almost too tall for him to handle.
A few moments later, the game had been fully and utterly reversible in a manner that was nothing short of amazing. Napoli winger Politano struck a fantastic left-foot volley into the far top corner of the goal after the ball was diverted in the direction of the outside of the penalty area.
Napoli appeared to have been revived as they subsequently pushed into a 3-1 lead when Kvaratskhelia lay it off outside the box for Piotr Zielinski’s rocket in off the underside of the crossbar, leaving Di Gregorio with no chance of stopping it.
Despite the fact that Monza were not giving up, Andrea Colpani managed to cut inside and finish with her left foot by bending it into the top corner of the goal with the assistance of a tiny deflection.
In the moments that followed, Di Gregorio rushed off his line to deny Osimhen after Anguissa batted down a long ball while fighting with Warren Bondo. This brought the score to a very close 4-2 in favor of Osimhen.
Despite this, Giacomo Raspadori scored with his first touch after coming off the bench. He did this by pouncing on the rebound that was left after Di Gregorio had blocked the angled drive that Di Lorenzo had presented. Five goals were scored in the span of thirteen minutes as a result of this.
In the midst of a day filled with a multitude of breathtaking goals, Osimhen attempted an overhead kick, but Di Gregorio was able to prevent it from going into the top corner.
