Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma career got off to a great start when Wesley Franca scored on his Serie A debut, but Bologna suffered from a string of injuries.
Long after the offside flag had been raised for Immobile, Riccardo Orsolini had the ball in the net, and Ferguson had tested Lukasz Skorupski from the edge of the area before nodding inches wide from Angelino’s cross.

Roma hit the post in the twenty-third minute with a glanced header from Bryan Cristante off a Matias Soulé free kick.
Immobile hobbled off the pitch, clearly distressed at what might be a catastrophic injury, clutching his thigh just above the knee. This was bad news for Bologna. Nicoló Casale had to be replaced after injuring his hamstring shortly before halftime.
However, replacement Santiago Castro came close to opening the score with a right-wing cross-shot that caught Mile Svilar off guard and struck the crossbar from an awkward angle.

Roma’s new acquisition opened the scoring. Wesley Franca off-balance scuffed a snooker shot finish past Skorupski after taking advantage of a sloppy Jhon Lucumi initial touch to get it back inside the penalty area.
After returning from injury, Paulo Dybala immediately forced Skorupski to make a save with a curler on the Wesley pull-back.
Within a minute of entering the game, Federico Bernardeschi had his finish deflected over, and Artem Dovbyk was one on one with Skorupski after failing to capitalize on a brilliant Dybala pass.
