In their second Serie A match of the year on Monday, Juventus were held to a 0-0 draw at Sampdoria, with the hosts despite coming closest to scoring when Mehdi Leris hit the post in the opening minutes.
Leris, a midfielder for Sampdoria, had Sampdoria’s lone shot at goal in the 7th minute after a cross found him in the middle of the box after cutting through Juve’s defense, but goalkeeper Mattia Perin repelled his effort.
After taking the ball from defender Tommaso Augello in the 15th minute, Juan Cuadrado of Juventus had the opportunity to find an unmarked Vlahovic, but he opted to shoot instead, and his attempt was saved. When Rabiot turned a pass from Vlahovic into the net inside the 65th minute, the visitors believed they had finally scored when the goal was disallowed.
New signing for Juventus In the third minute of extra time, Filip Kostic attempted to score the game-winning goal, but Emil Audero made an outstanding save to deny the Turin team the three points after they easily defeated Sassuolo 3-0 in their opening match.
Although both teams had chances to win a competitive match, with Juventus coming the closest on a few occasions, neither one inspired in the final third, and the result was a goalless draw. Despite having a depleted squad due to numerous absences, the visitors from Turin leave Liguria frustrated by the hosts’ discipline and fortitude in holding on to a point.
