Four goals were scored in this incredibly entertaining match, and both teams had numerous scoring opportunities. Cremonese rallied for a 2-2 draw away at Spezia.
As the visitors were still seeking their first victory of the year and were missing Ionut Radu, Vlad Chiriches, and Jack Hendry due to injuries, Marco Carnesecchi, an Italian Under-21 international, made his Serie A debut in goal. With the absence of Simone Bastoni, Viktor Kovalenko, and Arkadiusz Reca, Spezia was also under pressure, but Petko Hristov made a comeback.
It took Cremonese just over 60 seconds to take the lead after a corner was ineffectively cleared, Luka Lochoshvili was given too much room and time at the near post, and Cyriel Dessers practically made sure on the line.
M’Bala Nzola scored the equaliser for Spezia when Paolo Bianchetti’s errant clearance fell right into his path, allowing him to score from the edge of the box.
Within three minutes, everything had changed. Jakub Kiwior’s corner kick into the crowd caused a scramble, and Emil Holm managed to poke the ball through a sea of legs.
Emmanuel Gyasi was denied by Carnesecchi at close range after Charles Pickel nearly made it 2-2 with a finish that dribbled across the goal face.
A huge Kevin Agudelo attempt was massively deflected by Carnesecchi, who stuck out his trailing foot to get his toes to it. After a corner, Soualiho Meite grazed the upright with some paint.
Following the restart, Cremonese tied the score when Pickel, who was positioned at the back stick, was the recipient of a cross from the right by Leonardo Sernicola.
A few seconds later, Pablo Ascacibar nearly completely turned the situation around before Bartlomiej Dragowski dived in to palm his shot around the post.
While Lochoshvili bravely blocked Nzola’s thunderbolt with his face from point-blank range during the second half as the visitors poured forward, his substitution was necessitated by the force of the hit.
Carnesecchi parried two blistering shots from Daniele Verde in stoppage time and made another outstanding save on Daniel Maldini.
