Inter was able to defeat Udinese by a score of 2-1 owing to a winner scored by Davide Frattesi in the 95th minute. This victory allowed Inter to maintain their dominance in Serie A by regaining a 14-point lead at the top of the standings.
Inter resumed their march toward the Serie A championship on Monday night with a victory over Udinese, who were having a difficult time, but the match was not without its share of scares. The hosts, who are in danger of being relegated, took the lead in the first half, but Inter responded with a penalty kick from Hakan Calhanoglu 10 minutes into the second half. It was in the fifth minute of stoppage time that Davide Frattesi made his appearance, and it crushed the hearts of everyone at home.
In the moment, the Nerazzurri were under the impression that they were entitled to a penalty because Kingsley Ehizibue appeared to have brought down Federico Dimarco while he was attempting to challenge for the ball; however, no action was taken.
Even though Inter’s pressure continued to increase during the first half, they were unable to create any significant opportunities. Hakan Calhanoglu came the closest to scoring on two separate occasions. Maduka Okoye, on the other hand, did not accept him either time.
At the very moment when it appeared like the Nerazzurri were on the verge of breaking the deadlock, Udinese turned the battle on its head.
Lazar Samardzic found himself on the edge of the penalty area with a yard and a half of space after making a sprint forward in a short amount of time. The ball was able to sail past Yann Sommer, who was confused, and into the back of the net, making the score 1-0. His shot was instantly deflected, but Denzel Dumfries made a poor stop, which allowed the ball to go behind him.
It was impossible for Inter to find a way to answer in the last minutes of the first half, which left them with a challenging task ahead of them in the second half.
Inter believed they had equalized the score by a header by Carlos Augusto after a free kick, but play was stopped after the flag was raised. The drama continued for only a few minutes into the second half. For what appeared to be a flick from the offside Lautaro, the goal was disallowed after a lengthy review by the video assistant referee (VAR).
After what seemed like an eternity, the guests were finally able to find their way inside. When Okoye made a terrible mistake during an interception in the 53rd minute, he fouled Marcus Thuram, which resulted in Inter being awarded a penalty. Hakan Calhanoglu took the initiative and scored a goal that tied the score for Inter with a score of 1-1.
Udinese maintained their resolute defense throughout the second half, preventing the league leaders from scoring on a frequent basis in an effort to maintain their critical point. Inter continued to press throughout the second half.
A prize was given to the Nerazzurri for their blood, sweat, and tears in the 94th minute of the match. A fantastic low shot from Lautaro was met by Davide Frattesi, who was running, and Okoye fingertipped it onto the post, causing it to bounce out. On the rebound, Davide Frattesi slammed it home to make it 2-1 for the team that is currently leading the league.
Inter, on the other hand, is still on course to win a dominant Serie A title, and they may even clinch the trophy with a victory over its city and stadium rivals AC Milan in a fortnight. The three points are all equally important.
