Antonio Conte’s Napoli looked toothless and listless in their shock 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona, but Livramento and Daniel Mosquera made dream Serie A debuts.
Verona lost Serdar to injury after just 20 minutes and their first real chance came in the 33rd minute, when Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa headed in a cross from Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
After Matteo Politano stepped back from the edge of the penalty area, Stanislav Lobotka smashed the ball inches over the crossbar, but Napoli tried to score just before half-time.
A bad backpass left Kvaratskheria free towards goal, but he only had his eyes on the goalkeeper and didn’t notice Jackson Chatchoa diving in to block it. After this, the Georgian received a blow to the back of the head from Pavel Davidovic in the opening minutes, which left him dizzy and forced him to be substituted.
After the break, Castanos presented Hellas with a golden chance, his dangerous left-footed shot flying just wide on the edge of the penalty area.
Darko Lazovic broke down the left wing and passed to Rocha Livramento, who, after Juan Jesus up front, just smashed the ball past Alex Meret.
Anguissa was unlucky when his first-time shot from the edge of the penalty area hit the goal frame, but Napoli could not equalise ten minutes later. Di Lorenzo’s shot deflected off the near post, but it was Verona who doubled their lead.
Suslov struggled to win the ball back in midfield and Ondrej Duda played a direct pass from the centre for Daniel Mosquera, but the latter held his own and beat Meret on his Serie A debut.
It might have been 3-0 when Meretto headed in Mosquera’s volley after Ciaccia had gone past Pasquale Mazzocchi.
Cyril Gongétto tested former teammate Lorenzo Montipo but otherwise Napoli gave Verona’s goalkeeper few problems. Instead, Hellas made it 3-0 in added time when Haroy broke free to pull Matias Olivera and Lazovic’s failed finish provided an accidental assist for Mosquera.
