Sergio Dest is on track to transfer from Barcelona to AC Milan before the deadline for transfers.
Several European teams, such as Villarreal and Manchester United, have expressed interest in the American. However, Milan are currently in the lead in the battle to sign Sergio Dest.
Though the Catalan giants held discussions with both Villarreal and Manchester United, sources have confirmed that Milan’s deal is almost complete. A one-year loan term with an option to permanent four-year contract.
Sergio Dest had originally intended to remain and compete for a spot at Barcelona, but he is now open to leaving after failing to make the squad for the season’s first three games.
In 72 appearances for Barcelona since his debut in 2020, the player has three goals and five assists. However, his performance with the team quickly declined, which prompted the departure.
Dest will probably be looking for playing time now that the World Cup is approaching to guarantee his spot on Gregg Berhalter’s 26-player USA roster going to Qatar.
