In order to facilitate the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to San Siro on a permanent basis, Chelsea has requested that Inter Milan include the midfielder Nicolo Barella in a potential swap deal.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea are interested in signing Barella, who has also been linked with a surprising move to Newcastle. These attempts to purchase a new midfielder come in the midst of negotiations with Manchester United and Arsenal to sell Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, respectively. Chelsea are also interested in purchasing a new player. The Blues have reportedly shown interest in Moises Caicedo of Brighton, but his price tag is estimated to be around £120 million.
Lukaku wants to stay at Inter so badly that he is annoyed that the transfer agreement has not been finalised yet. On the other hand, the Italian club has expressed interest in retaining his services. However, according to reports, Inter are interested in giving him another loan rather than buying him outright, which may put an end to Chelsea’s plan to include Barella in a potential trade with them.
Barella has emerged as a key player for Inter and was instrumental in the team’s run to the Champions League final, which they ultimately lost to Manchester City. Barella’s performance in this match was pivotal. It has been reported that Inter and Chelsea are deep in discussion, and it is anticipated that the two clubs will continue their dialogue because Inter is also interested in Kalidou Koulibaly.
