With goals against Cremonese from the hard-working Rolando Mandragora and Arthur Cabral, Fiorentina won its fifth game in a row overall.
The hosts defeated Roma 2-1 two weeks ago to earn their first victory of the year, while Fiorentina were coming off consecutive victories in Serie A and a Conference League Round of 16 matchup with Sivasspor.
The visitors were caught off guard when Cyriel Dessers nodded in from a long throw-in, while Rolando Mandragora’s potent long-range drive narrowly missed the target, and Antonin Barak’s 10-yard finish was blocked by Ferrari.
After a brilliant Barak cross-field pass, Fiorentina scored as Jonathan Ikone was impeded by oncoming traffic. Mandragora then drilled in the rebound from 12 yards to break the tie.
After some excellent work from Ikone, Barak was able to retreat from the byline after Arthur Cabral’s diving header from close range was deflected wide.
Josip Brekalo, who came on as a substitute, set up the visitors’ second goal, a goal of real quality that saw Mandragora roll across for Cabral to tap in relatively unimpeded following a quick passing move.
A deft overhead kick from Buonaiuto failed to connect, and after Daniel Ciofani nodded a cross from Emanuele Valeri just over, Sirigu was forced to sprint off his line and defend his position against David Okereke.
