In Serie A on Sunday, Napoli was held to a 0-0 draw at Fiorentina as both teams continued to press but were unable to score.
In the 24th minute, Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret stopped a long-range shot from Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil. Giacomo Bonaventura then capitalized on a bad defensive clearance to hit a shot just wide of the post.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli scored in the 43rd minute, but the goal was immediately overturned for offside. Following the restart, Hirving Lozano had a glorious header opportunity, but he was only able to miss the back post of Fiorentina.
Giacomo Raspadori of Napoli was denied twice by Gollini. The goalkeeper stopped a strong effort from inside the box in the 74th minute and a long-range shot eight minutes later.
With 7 points from 3 matches and a goal difference advantage over second-placed Roma, Napoli has topped the Serie A standings after starting the season with two emphatic wins over Verona and Monza. Lecce will visit them on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fiorentina travel to Udinese on the same day. The team of Vincenzo Italiano currently has five points after drawing 0-0 at ten-man Empoli after winning their season opener at home against Cremonese.
