A resolute 1-0 victory over an energized Fiorentina allowed Juventus to close the distance on Serie A leaders Inter to just two points after they kept a clean sheet for the sixth straight match while earning a road victory.
Juventus team coached by Massimiliano Allegri did not play particularly well on Sunday evening at Fiorentina, but they did enough to earn a 1-0 victory away from home. The match took place in Florence. The victory was their eighth of the season in Serie A and placed them within two points of leaders Inter Milan after 11 games of the campaign. The victory was courtesy of a strike from Fabio Miretti, which was his first goal for the club, and it was a landmark first goal for the club.
Midfielder Fabio Miretti scored the game-winning goal in the tenth minute of the match for Juventus in a typical smash-and-grab triumph for Massimiliano Allegri’s no-nonsense team. Miretti finished a Filip Kostic cross with a superb finish to celebrate his first goal for the club.
The home team was defeated for the third time in a row in the league, and they will be left wondering how they were unable to score for the third straight domestic match, despite having 70 percent of the possession and 25 shots on goal.
However, they were lacking a clinical edge to their approach, and the center defenders for Juventus, Bremer and Daniele Rugani, produced a lesson in the art of protecting your box during the encounter that took place at the feverish Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The home team will look to pick themselves up for their match against FK Cukaricki in Serbia on Thursday, which will take place in the UEFA Conference League Group F competition. Meanwhile, a confident Juventus will look to defeat Cagliari at home in the Serie A match on Saturday evening.
