After leaving Inter as a free agent, Roberto Gagliardini has formally agreed to terms on a contract to play for Monza for the upcoming season.
Gagliardini decided to sign on the contract that will last until June 2024 and includes a provision that allows for it to be renewed if certain criteria are met throughout the season.
He was born in Bergamo and did come up through the Inter youth system. After that, he had stints at Vicenza, Cesena, and Spezia before making the transfer to Inter for a total of €22.5 million in 2017. He is still based in the Lombardy region today.
After the 30th of June, the 29-year-old player was a free agent because his previous contract with Inter was expired.
Gagliardini has seven senior caps for Italy to his name and had also been linked with Genoa, who had just been promoted to Serie A, but Monza was always the favourite to sign him.
He leaves Inter after recording 16 goals and nine assists across 190 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri. He was also on the bench for Inter’s match against Manchester City in the Champions League Final.
