During Igor Tudor’s first game as coach of the Roman club, Lazio defeated Juventus by a score of 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by Adam Marusic in the last seconds of the game. This setback further exacerbated the situation for the Old Lady.
After a wasteful effort from both teams, the encounter in the Eternal City appeared to be destined to end in a scoreless draw. Taty Castellanos wasted wonderful chances for the home team, and Christos Mandas came to their rescue when Juve threatened through Federico Chiesa and Andrea Cambiaso by scoring a goal.
Marusic, however, rose to meet a cross from Matteo Guendouzi and head home from close range to ignite jubilant celebrations and guarantee that it was a memorable debut for Tudor, who was called in following Maurizio Sarri’s resignation earlier in the month. This came about in the middle of the final minute of stoppage time.
In light of this, Lazio have moved up to seventh place in the Serie A rankings, eight points behind Bolgona, who are now in fourth place. This comes before Lazio’s match against Salernitana on Monday.
Juventus, on the other hand, maintained their position as third in the rankings despite the fact that their winless streak now stands at four matches.
In the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final, which will take place on Tuesday night in Turin, the two teams will compete against one another once more. This will be followed by a third encounter in three weeks, which will take place at the Olimpico on April 23.
