Lazio simply outplayed troubled Milan 4-0 to move into third place. They are now on equal points with Inter and Roma while the defending champions who are now 12 points behind leaders Napoli.

The breakthrough occurred for Lazio in just four minutes as Mattia Zaccagni moved to the left and rolled across, and Luis Alberto’s dummy allowed Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to sweep into the near bottom corner for the first time.

Ivan Provedel was directly in the path of Sandro Tonali’s strike, but Fikayo Tomori hobbled off with a thigh injury, and Ismael Bennacer received a booking for kicking the ball away and will now miss the match against Sassuolo.

When Felipe Anderson was about to slide in, Pedro pulled back from the left just as Zaccagni’s volley from a Milinkovic-Savic cross was slightly deflected wide. When Pedro found Adam Marusic, whose angled shot tricked Ciprian Tatarusanu into hitting the base of the far post and rebounding into Zaccagni’s path, Lazio did increase their lead.

Another shot by Milinkovic-Savic was deflected for a corner, and Kjaer made a crucial save when Zaccagni was set free by a brilliant Luis Alberto pass.

Milinkovic-Savic deflected Bennacer’s free kick after the restart, but Luis Alberto was enraged when the referee stopped play to book Kjaer rather than giving Lazio the advantage and attacking.

Hysaj made a last-ditch block to keep Rafael Leao from connecting with Alexis Saelemaekers’ floated cross from six yards after his rather optimistic effort was deflected for a corner.

In the middle of the field, Hysaj intercepted a Milan pass and immediately sent Felipe Anderson down the left. He then pulled back for Pedro, who arrived much sooner than Pierre Kalulu and was fouled for a penalty. For a score of 3-0, Luis Alberto blasted it into the goal roof.

Milinkovic-Savic attempted to block a Charles De Ketelaere shot, but Lazio responded with a strong team goal to score a fourth. Once more, Zaccagni eluded Calabria and moved aside for Luis Alberto, whose exquisitely timed pass allowed Felipe Anderson to score from eight yards away.
