During Lazio’s rout of Salernitana, Felipe Anderson finished with two goals, Matias Vecino and Gustav Isaksen both finding the back of the net, but Lazio was forced to deal with objections from their fans.
Even though early shots from Adam Marusic and Taty Castellanos were deflected off target, Felipe Anderson was the one who opened the score for Lazio. Anderson robbed Antonio Candreva, cut inside, and bent a left-foot finish into the far bottom corner from a distance of 12 yards.
Castellanos thought it was 2-0 for Lazio seconds later when he sprung the offside trap on the Luis Alberto pass, but instead of returning the assist, he attempted to dink it over the goalkeeper from a tough angle. Castellanos’s shot was unsuccessful.
A Castellanos header hit Norbert Gyomber in the arm during the corner kick, which resulted in the second goal, which was fairly hectic. Matias Vecino had turned in the loose ball before the referee had the opportunity to blow the whistle and signal to the penalty spot. As a result, it was decided to just play the advantage and take advantage of the situation.
Giulio Maggiore stood up a cross for Loum Tchaouna’s free header between two central defenders, which provided Salernitana with an early opportunity to get back into the game of football.
While Benoit Costil was able to get away with sprinting out into the middle of the field to clear, Christos Mandas was able to miss a fairly straightforward attempt by Domagoj Bradaric.
Costil’s failure to completely block a low cross from Adam Marusic coming from the right side of the field presented Castellanos with an opportunity, but he was unable to take advantage of it.
Following an exchange of passes between Castellanos and Luis Alberto, Felipe Anderson added his second goal by deftly finishing over Costil from a distance of six yards giving Lazio important lead.
Luis Alberto’s free kick went over the crossbar, and Patric’s shot also missed the mark. Although Felipe Anderson had the opportunity to score a hat trick immediately after the restart, he was unable to do so because of a heavy first touch.
Following Luis Alberto’s successful completion of a double give and go with Patric and then Felipe Anderson, Costil made a remarkable stop with one hand, which allowed him to keep Lazio scoring another goal.
After a collision of heads, Castellanos and Lorenzo Pirola both required medical attention, and Nicolò Rovella made his return from injury as a late substitute. Furthermore, Castellanos and Pirola both needed to be patched up.
Gustav Isaksen was one of the few players who received applause from the crowd when he came off the bench. He rewarded the audience with a goal, as Rovella won it back in the final third with a sliding tackle, and his teammate buried the angled drive into the far bottom corner with his ‘weaker’ right foot. Rovella’s goal was a good way to thank the crowd for their support.
While Costil was out at sea, Isaksen made a lob that was utterly off target, despite the fact that he should have had another in stopped times. Even after the last whistle blew, there were still loud jeers and slurs at the conclusion of this 4-1 victory.
