Milan vs Bologna: Match Preview and Possible Lineups

Last Updated on 27/08/2022 by

On Saturday in Serie A, Milan will play host to Bologna as they attempt to recover from a minor setback last time out. Bologna is still searching for their first victory of the year and should have a difficult time at the champions’ stadium.

Despite earning a win and a draw in their first two games, Milan’s title defense has not gotten off to the best start. The good news is that they still have plenty of time to make things right because the season is still young.

When they last played, Milan were held to a 1-1 draw at Atalanta, failing to match their goal-scoring performance from their 4-2 victory over Udinese to start the season. There shouldn’t be any issues with the outcome for manager Stefano Pioli because it seemed like both teams were competitive.

The number of missed chances, given that they had numerous chances to score, will be a concern for Pioli. When Milan plays at the San Siro on Saturday, where they have won six of their last eight Serie A games, the manager will be hoping to turn things around.

Bologna’s previous match ended in a 1-1 draw with Verona, giving them their first point of the year. Marko Arnautovic gave them an early advantage, but they were unable to hold on and fell behind before halftime.

Bologna’s season has gotten off to a somewhat rough start after they lost their opening match 2-1 to Lazio. However, manager Sinisa Mihailovic will be eager to continue after putting some points on the board.

Bologna’s issue is that they struggle away from home, where they have only won one of their previous 11 Serie A games. The absence of Riccardo Orsolini, who performed well against Verona but was dismissed late in the game, will make their task more difficult on Saturday.

Possible Lineup for Milan – Maignan, Calabria, Tomori, Hernández, Kalulu, Bennacer, Tonali, De Ketelaere, Rebić, Leão, Messias

Possible Lineup for Bologna – Skorupski, De Silvestri, Bonifazi, Kasius, Cambiaso, Medel, Soriano, Schouten, Domínguez, Arnautović, Sansone
