A report claims that AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar have begun formal negotiations to secure the services of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

According to Fabrizio Romano, official negotiations for the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders have begun between AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar. It has been reported that the Serie A club has made an opening bid for the 24-year-old midfielder that is equal to €19 million. This week will see the continuation of discussions between the two clubs. According to reports from late last month, AZ turned down offers for Reijnders that came from clubs in the Premier League and Sporting Lisbon.

The previous year, Reijnders played for AZ in 54 matches, and the team’s performance helped them reach the semifinals of the Europa Conference league and finish fourth in the Eredivisie. The central midfielder was a member of the team that advanced to the round of 16 of the Conference League tournament by defeating Lazio, a team from Serie A. During the previous season, Reijnders was responsible for eight goals and 11 assists.

Sandro Tonali, a star midfielder for AC Milan, has reportedly agreed to sign with Newcastle. As a result of the player’s departure, Tijjani Reijnders now has a spot available on the team. The Dutchman has the potential to be an outstanding addition for the Italian giants.

Further reported by Romano that AZ Alkmaar is expecting the deal worth €20 million. Therefore the negotiation is in advanced stage.
