During their match against SC Braga, Napoli secured their spot in the round of sixteen of the Champions League by scoring a hilarious own goal and achieving an unconventional finale with Victor Osimhen.
Napoli were coming off three straight losses under the direction of new coach Walter Mazzarri. Napoli won 2-1 in Portugal, which meant that they were able to afford to lose by one goal and still advance for the Round of 16—just behind Real Madrid.
Pizzi’s attempt was blocked by Juan Jesus, and Bruma’s follow-up shot was a miss. The visitors got off to a strong start, as evidenced by their aggressive play.
Braga, on the other hand, pulled through their own net, precisely like they did during the match in Portugal. Matteo Politano made his way down the right side of the field and attempted to pull back low for Osimhen. However, Serdar Saatci, in a pretty clumsy manner, managed to divert the ball onto the underside of the bar and over the line.
At the 28-minute mark, Alex Meret was had to make a remarkable flying one-handed save in order to push the screamer from Ricardo Horta over the bar. As a result of turning Jose Fonte on a Politano through ball, the Braga goalkeeper was also put to the test at the near post by Piotr Zielinski.
Natan, who is a central defender who is stepping in at left back, sprinted down the left side past Fonte and rolled across to the area where Osimhen’s attempted back-heel flick ended up ricocheting into the net off his other foot. This allowed Napoli to add a second goal to their score.
