According to multiple reports, Rasmus Hojlund will depart for England on Tuesday in order to complete the medical examination required by Manchester United in order to complete his transfer to the club.
On Sunday, following multiple back and forth dialogues between the two clubs, United and Atalanta, where Hojlund is currently employed, reached an agreement on a deal that was worth £72 million.
Hojlund, who is only 20 years old, has been the focus of attention from the Premier League powerhouse as United manager Erik ten Hag has made Hojlund his top transfer target in an effort to address the team’s goal scoring woes.
The Danish international player was very eager to make the move to Old Trafford, and according to The Athletic, he will have his medical exam on Tuesday after he arrives at the club’s Carrington training complex. The player has been very motivated to make the switch.
Hojlund and United have already reached an agreement regarding his personal terms, and he will sign a five-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Even though United were able to reach an agreement for less than Atalanta’s initial asking price of £86 million, they will still have to pay a significant amount of money for a player who scored only nine goals in Serie A in the previous season.
Ten Hag apparently continues to believe in the youngster’s potential to assist in transforming the club into title contenders in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to work with his newest signing once United have completed their pre-season tour of America and returned to Manchester following the conclusion of their trip.
United will likely win the race for the striker’s approval after Paris Saint-Germain made attempts to scuttle the English club’s pursuit of the player. The player is scheduled to undergo a medical examination soon.
Hojlund is a self-proclaimed fan of the Red Devils and has made significant efforts since the club’s initial expression of interest in acquiring his services to try to secure a transfer to the 13-time defending Premier League champions.
Following the summer acquisitions of Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana, who previously played for Inter Milan as a custodian, he will become Manchester United’s third new signing of the summer.
