When they host newly promoted Cremonese on Monday night, Roma will be confident that they can keep their perfect start to the most recent Serie A season.
Cremonese fought hard in their opening match against Fiorentina but ultimately lost the match despite after getting reduced to 10 men. They now have an even more difficult task on the road against Mourinho’s Roma.
Roma has triumphed over Cremonese in each of their last three meetings, but they haven’t faced off since 1996. Last weekend, Mourinho’s team defeated Salernitana away from home while maintaining a clean sheet, their third straight in all competitions. Although Cremonese scored twice on the road at Fiorentina the last time they played, we anticipate the visitors to have trouble against a much better-organized defense.
Roma put in a quite solid performance to make sure they won all three points, even though they may not have been at their best away at Salernitana. Roma defeated a Salernitana team that was hard to break and didn’t perform enough with ball in the attacking third with just one goal in the first half from Cristante.
Cremonese realized they would face a challenge in their season opener against la Viola, but they came close to taking home a point. Fiorentina took a lead inside the 16th minute, but Okereke of Cremonese equalized for the visitors in the 19th. The visitors gave up once more in the opening period, and Escalante was dismissed just before the break, but Bianchetti forced the ball into the net in the 68th minute to make it 2-2. Up until the final minute of stoppage time, when Fiorentina managed to score a significant winning goal, it appeared as though the visitors could have done enough just to earn a point.
Possible Lineup for Roma: Patrício, Smalling, Spinazzola, Karsdorp, Mancini, Ibañez, Cristante, Pellegrini, Zaniolo, Paolo Dybala, Tammy Abraham
