In his first game in charge of AS Roma, Daniele De Rossi guided his team to a 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona.

Following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho on Tuesday, AS Roma secured all three points in their first match since the departure of the manager. Having been appointed on a contract that will last until the end of the season, Daniele De Rossi did not do any harm to his chances of remaining in his position for a longer period of time by achieving this significant victory. Both Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini were able to score thanks to the assistance of Stephan El Shaarawy, who played a significant role in both situations.

The Giallorossi were able to move up to eighth place in the table thanks to goals scored by Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Verona, on the other hand, remained in the bottom three of the table.

After Jose Mourinho was fired from his position as manager of Roma, renowned former Roma midfielder De Rossi was promoted to the position on a contract that would last until the conclusion of the season. It was an outstanding beginning for himself.

But with De Rossi in the coaching area, it took Roma only 19 minutes to break the tie. Stephan El Shaarawy stormed into the area and picked out Lukaku, who then launched a shot that resulted in Lukaku scoring his 15th goal of the season in all competitions.

El Shaarawy played a vital part once again, flicking on a cross towards Pellegrini, who then smashed a shot into the roof of the net, so doubling the advantage that the home team had taken six minutes later.

Verona were offered a way to get back into the game when referee Juan Luca Sacchi pointed to the spot after determining that the ball had hit Diego Llorente’s arm in an unusual position. This allowed Verona to get back into the situation.

Milan Duric, however, successfully hammered the ensuing penalty attempt over the bar, much to the relief of the majority of those who were present inside the Stadio Olimpico.

However, the away team was able to cut the deficit in half in the 76th minute thanks to a goal scored by Michael Folorunsho. This is a goal that Roma’s goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, will not want to see back.

In order to set up a tense last fifteen minutes, Folorunsho took aim from outside the box, but Patricio was unable to stop his shot from going through his fingers.

In spite of this, De Rossi’s team managed to maintain their position and move within two points of the top four, making the competition for the European positions a more exciting one.
