Luka Jovic scored an equalizer in the 90th minute to save a point for AC Milan against Salernitana, who are currently in last place in Serie A.
As the time ran down, it appeared as though AC Milan was going to suffer a devastating loss at the hands of Salernitana. However, Luka Jovic came up with a goal to earn a point for the Rossoneri while they were away from home. The hosts, whose goals came from Federico Fazio and Antonio Candreva, may have been unlucky to finish with all three points after a performance that mostly belied their place in the Serie A table. The hosts got all three points by virtue of their performance.
Despite the fact that Milan took the lead on a chaotic corner, Mike Maignan had to scramble across the field after Boulaye Dia deflected a Bradaric attempt that was heading in the wrong direction.
It was flicked on to Rafael Leao at the back post, and his chest and roll across took a double deflection, which allowed Fikayo Tomori to nod in from close range.
Theo Hernandez was able to get a clear shot on goal after Leao’s deceptive ball, but Benoit Costil was able to intercept it at the exact moment that he needed to and take it away from him.
Bennacer glanced on a cross from Antonio Candreva, putting Maignan in danger of scoring an own goal. Candreva then shot just wide of the target, and Maignan had to be on his toes to avoid the situation.
After Maignan made yet another outstanding stop to prevent Kastanos from sliding in, Salernitana scored a goal that was worthy of equalizing the score on the corner that followed. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was unable to stop Federico Fazio from scoring with a spectacular header after Candreva’s cross found him.
Costil successfully blocked a free kick routine from Theo Hernandez, and Jan-Carlo Simic came on as a substitute for Simon Kjaer, who was not fit enough to play in the second half.
A few moments later, Salernitana also suffered the loss of a vital player when Boulaye Dia pulled up clutching his hamstring in the middle of the race.
Despite the fact that Costil was directly behind a half-volley and control by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Milan was unable to avoid a double disaster in a single rapid action.
As the move continued, Maignan entirely misread the flight of the Candreva attack at the base of the near post and allowed it to sneak between his gloves, allowing Salernitana to take the lead. First, Tomori fainted while clutching his leg, and then, as the move continued, Maignan allowed it to pass through his gloves.
In an effort to make amends for that gaffe, Maignan attempted to make a flying fingertip save from Pasquale Mazzocchi, who was able to push it over the bar.
In the 82nd minute, Luka Jovic had two chances to equalize the score: first, he had a header on a cross from Leao, and then he had a follow-up shot that Costil had, both of which he had turned away from close range.
Jovic allowed the ball to bounce and then scored with a half-volley after Olivier Giroud had pushed down a cross from Davide Calabria. Milan was able to equalize the score in the 90th minute.
Vincenzo Fiorilli got sent off for pushing Alessandro Florenzi and delaying the throw-in. The game was wide open from both sides, with Costil parrying a Calabria header and Ikwuemesi aiming a poor finish at Maignan. However, Fiorilli was thrown out for his actions.
The draw brings Salernitana to within two points of Verona, who are now in second-bottom position, while Milan, who are currently in third place, are seven points behind Inter, who are the leaders and city rivals.
