Spezia 0-2 Roma: Dybala inspired Roma on the winning track

El Shaarawy and Tammy Abraham both received assists from Paulo Dybala as Roma cruised to a 2-0 victory over Spezia on the road.

Emil Holm, a key player for Spezia, went down under pressure from Salva Ferrer just 13 minutes in, and there was controversy when Nicola Zalewski went down, but the referee was very close by and waved play on, believing they had merely crossed paths and unintentionally clipped each other.

Bartlomiej Dragowski was put to the test by Stephan El Shaarawy’s long-range shot, and Petko Hristov retreated for a perilous block to prevent Tammy Abraham from gaining possession after Gianluca Mancini’s pass.

El Shaarawy and Zalewski both cut inside to shoot just over the bar, and Abraham then nodded a Dybala free kick across the goal face just inches from a Mancini tap-in.

Roma took the lead after a well-executed move. On a long ball, Abraham nodded, and El Shaarawy sent Dybala scurrying down the right, prepared to meet the roll across from La Joya for a straightforward tap-in.

When Dybala picked off a sloppy Esposito pass and instantly threaded through it for Abraham, who then nutmegged Caldara and rushed forth to slide the finish from underneath Dragowski’s legs, Roma increased their lead.

Dragowski was put to the test by Caldara’s header, and Abraham’s follow-up was fired across the face of goal with no one able to get the finishing touch.

As Roma defended heavily, Daniel Maldini curled just over the crossbar and Viktor Kovalenko’s attempt was charged down. Celik received a booking in the closing seconds and will miss the match against Napoli.
