Bayern Munich simply proved to be too much for a weak Inter team to handle as they were defeated 2-0 by the Bundesliga champions in their opening Champions League match, losing their 3rd game in a row.
The difference between the two teams was made up of Leroy Sané’s first goal and Danilo D’Ambrosio’s own goal, though the visitors had numerous opportunities to score more.
After 26 minutes, Sané broke Inter’s defense by skillfully intercepting a long ball from Joshua Kimmich, turning André Onana, who was making his Nerazzurri debut, and putting the ball into the empty net.
After the break, D’Ambrosio’s attempt to stop a quick and dangerous combination between Kingsley Coman and Sané collapsed the home team’s defense once more.
Bayern maintains its lead over the home team, winning 2-0, as the final whistle blows. Inter’s attack, which had shown some promise in the first half, was blunt to say the least in the second, with both Dzeko and Martinez feeding off scraps and creating very few chances. Leroy Sane, who scored the first goal, led Bayern’s onslaught, and he was instrumental in D’Ambrosio’s own goal, which sealed the outcome.
Inter will be aware that they need to improve, but they were given very little room to maneuver in a match that was thoroughly dominated by the Bavarians everywhere they played.
