PSG 2-1 Juventus : Bianconeri suffered a heavy defeat in Champions League opener

PSG defeated Juventus 2-1 in their Champions League opener thanks to a stunning Kylian Mbappe brace.

At first glance, PSG appears to be a brand-new Ferrari. However, when the shiny chassis and glossy paint are removed, there are significant engineering flaws that might thwart their Champions League charge. Again.

The most expensively put together front-three in history was virtually unstoppable at times against Juventus, and Mbappe’s quick-fire brace, helped by Neymar, showed the unique, glistening side of the French club.

However, they never seemed completely at ease defensively as Juan Cuadrado and Filip Kostic caused trouble with their precise deliveries into the box. Their mental approach appeared to crumble once Weston McKennie cut into their lead, frighteningly evoking what transpired against Real Madrid in March.

To demonstrate that the persistent issues that have prevented the club from winning the trophy can be solved, new manager Christophe Galtier still has work to do. However, having Mbappe on his side is helpful. That gives them a leg up on almost everyone on the continent. With his goal-scoring prowess, Neymar has been the center of attention to start the season, but the Frenchman provided a welcome reminder of why PSG worked so hard to keep him as the team’s mascot for years to come.

Mbappe made Gleison Bremer appear nothing like the successor to Turin’s defensive, and each of his goals was astounding in their effortlessness.

PSG gets off to a winning start in Group H, as Juventus was unable to recover from falling victim to their first-half brilliance despite a stirring start to an open second half. The hosts took the lead after 45 minutes of brilliant play from Neymar and Mbappe, and either goalkeeper was the standout performer for their team after that. As the game progressed, both players made a few crucial stops, but Donnarumma and his team win with three points, sending Juve back to Turin empty-handed.
