Verona 2-2 Inter: Nerrazzuri secure draw in last game of season

Marko Arnautovic scored twice to guarantee that Inter did not suffer a loss in the final round of the season in which they won the Scudetto.

It was the first match after Suning ceded control of Inter to Oaktree, but the atmosphere at the Stadio Bentegodi was filled with joy because Hellas had already secured their safety and Inter had finished their Scudetto-winning campaign. All of these events contributed to the joyful environment.

Within the first ten minutes of the game, Marko Arnautovic scored the first goal by catching Diego Coppola sleeping on the edge of the penalty area and then robbing him of the opportunity to beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one match.

On the other hand, Hellas equalized the score on the counterattack when a clever slide-rule ball from Tomas Suslov allowed Tijjani Noslin to spring the offside trap for an exquisite finish.

An effort by Marcus Thuram that was deflected led the goalie to have a difficult time, and he made an excellent stop on the header that Davide Frattesi attempted.

Nicolò Barella was robbed by Suat Serdar in the closing third of the game, and with that, Noslin lay it off for Suslov just inside the box. This was the moment that Verona turned the game around.

During the stoppages of the first half, Barella drifted a ball over the top, which Frattesi cushioned down with his chest for Arnautovic to finish off. This allowed Inter to equalize the score.

As the Tajon Buchanan low cross caused chaos, Simone Perilli made a remarkable double save, first on Frattesi and then on Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez was the recipient of the save.

Raffaele Di Gennaro, the third-choice goalkeeper for Inter, had to make a difficult reaction save on Serdar at the back post on a corner, and then on the Elyas Tavsan snapshot. Perilli also made a flying save to push a Hakan Calhanoglu effort over the bar.

The goalie was fouled by Frattesi in the 84th minute, and Frattesi thought he had won the game by doing so. However, Ruben Vinagre cleared the ball off the line, albeit it went onto the underside of the bar. In stoppage time, Alexis Sanchez scored with a stunning lob, but the goal was disallowed because it was scored offside.
