Verona 1-3 Napoli : Kvaradona back to action with a brace

At the Stadio Bentegodi, Matteo Politano contributed to Napoli’s rout of Verona by scoring a goal and setting up two others for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Rudi Garcia was able to avoid getting sacked, but the team was in a precarious position because Osimhen, Elmas, and Zambo Anguissa were injured. Despite this, the pressure was still on Napoli head coach Rudi Garcia. Hellas were unable to field a team since they were without Juan Cabal, Isak Hien, and Jayden Braaf; as a result, they only managed two points and two goals over the course of the last six rounds.

After diving to his knees to parry a fierce touched-on free kick from Giacomo Raspadori, Lorenzo Montip sprang to his feet and fingertipped a Matteo Politano curler that was headed for the bottom of the post.

The score was finally broken when Raspadori made his way down the left side of the field and floated a pass to the back post, where Politano scored on the volley from seven yards out for Napoli.

After a few moments, it looked like Raspadori would put Jens Cajuste through for a second time, but Montip came running out to block the shot. It would have been 2-0 at that point.

Napoli extended their advantage to 2-0 when Politano sent Kvaratskhelia down the left side of the field. After appearing to pull back from the by-line, Kvaratskhelia instead used his left foot to squeeze the ball in between the near post and the goalie to score. Serdar’s shot went just wide of the crossbar.

During the halftime break, Verona made three substitutions, and they were immediately felt as Federico Bonazzoli’s close-range shot on Alex Meret was a test for the new lineup.

However, after Kvaratskhelia squandered a potential counterattack once, he did not make the same mistake the second time on another assist from Politano. He cut inside and used the inside of his right boot to sweep the ball into the far bottom corner from 12 yards out.

Due to an uncommon blunder made by Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who failed to correctly evaluate the trajectory of Marco Davide Faraoni’s cross, Verona were able to get back into the game. Darko Lazovic was able to smash the ball into the top of the net with no resistance.

The goalkeeper deflected a free kick taken by Raspadori over the crossbar, Milan Djuric headed the ball wide of the near post, and Cajuste’s angled drive came within a few inches of the upright.

Meret made a spectacular stop with one hand to deny Bonazzoli’s close-range attempt, while Giovanni Simeone’s shot went wide. Meanwhile, the Napoli goalkeeper buried a deflected shot by Lazovic that passed through a sea of legs.

A quick shot from Michel Folorunsho also made Meret make a save, while Alessio Zerbin was denied a goal by Montip sticking out a leg.
