It is been another stalemate for Milan in UEFA Champions League. Despite trying a lot both teams were not able to score any goals and the game stayed deadlocked till the end.
FULL TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0-0 MILAN
90 + 1′ Florenzi is sent sprawling to the ground by a clumsy challenge from Bynoe-Gittens in the area, but the referee disregards Milan’s cries for a penalty as he continues to play the game. After further review, the VAR corroborates his original assessment.
86′ CLOSE! After some excellent work by Leao, Chukwueze is able to enter the box, but Kobel makes a spectacular save on the shot taken by the right winger. The ball is kicked back to Reijnders, who then attempts to drive it in, but his shot goes high and wide of the right post. That was a tremendous opportunity for Milan.
86′ Chukwueze shifts his weight to his left foot and then curls the ball towards the top right corner, but his shot goes just wide of the goal.
84′ Adeyemi takes a free kick from a dangerous position and sends it into the box, but the delivery is really bad and the ball does not get past Adli, who nods clear of the danger.
82′ OVER! The fullback Hernandez sneaks in at the back post to meet Leao’s looping deep cross, but Hernandez’s thunderous header goes just high enough to clear the crossbar. If Hernandez’s shot had been accurate, Kobel might have been in for some trouble.
81′ The game is still at a stalemate. Both teams unable to find back of the post yet.
75′ Bynoe-Gittens adds some speed to Dortmund’s attack by displaying some deft footwork in order to cut back in before shooting. However, the angle of his shot is not quite steep enough to challenge Maignan, and the ball goes out of bounds for a goal kick.
74′ Schlotterbeck takes a shot from 30 yards out, but Maignan is able to get down low and to his right to make the save look easy.
56′ Dortmund is demanding a penalty because they believe that Pobega touched Schlotterbeck’s header after it was taken from a corner, but the referee blows off their protests before a quick VAR review validates his decision.
54′ HUGE OPPORTUNITY! After receiving a wonderful first-time pass from Leao that places him inside the box, Pulisic ought to perform better. The former Chelsea player spins around and takes a shot, but his weak attempt is aimed directly at Kobel, who makes a spectacular stop from close range. On either side of the goalkeeper, Dortmund might have been facing significant challenges.
51′ Pobega does a good job of getting up to meet Reijnders’ inswinging corner, but his header sails high and wide of the crossbar, and Milan does not have a shot on goal at this point.
44′ CLOSE! Bensebaini’s deft flick at the near post sends a corner delivery arrowing towards the back post, but Musah makes an important intervention to deflect the ball off Reus and out for a goal kick.
40′ The Dortmund center-back can only get his header to soar into the air from Brandt’s set-piece delivery, and Milan are able to clear it when it comes down because Thiaw does a good job of distracting Hummels from the delivery.
37′ When the ball is played back into the box after a corner kick, the visitors’ Giroud and Hernandez get in each other’s way, which results in a missed opportunity of monumental proportions for the away team. The striker is eventually successful in getting a shot off, but his off-balance attempt goes high and wide.
35′ Brandt does an outstanding job of chesting down a cross in the Milan box, but his acrobatic bicycle kick goes high and wide of the crossbar.
33′ Reus takes a free kick on the left wing and tries to find the far corner with it, but Maignan is content to watch it sail over the upright and out of play for a goal kick.
31′ The ball is carelessly given away by Calabria, but Dortmund is unable to capitalize because Maignan makes a save on Fullkrug’s attempt from 25 yards out and Hernandez clears it in the end.
27′ WIDE! After receiving the ball from Brandt, Malen shifted onto his left foot and sent the ball toward the goal before Brandt could recover. His powerful shot sends Maignan into a panic, but thankfully for Milan, the ball is deflected to the right of the goal and goes wide.
24′ Bensebaini’s header from a Brandt free-kick delivery into the box loops harmlessly over the bar, and Maignan was never worried about it.
21′ An immediate counterattack by Milan following a corner kick taken by Dortmund is rendered ineffective when a pass from Hernandez is played behind Leao. Leao, who appears torn between crossing the ball and shooting it, ultimately sends the ball directly into the waiting hands of Kobel.
19′ A yellow card is given to Schlotterbeck for taking out the marauding Leao, which is the first card of the match.
16′ CLOSE! Although Thiaw’s header for a moment caused Kobel to be concerned, the ball ended up falling on top of the net after he successfully rose to meet Pulisic’s corner throw from the right side of the box.
15′ So far the game is deadlocked. Both teams haven’t created a threat to goal yet.
12′ After Dortmund has gained possession of the ball, it appears for a brief moment that Milan might be in a bit of trouble; however, Tomori quickly dashes in to make an important intervention.
6′ Bensebaini sends in a low cross, and it is only cleared to Malen, who takes a first-time shot, but he is unable to find the target with it. This is a decent opportunity for Dortmund, but it is wasted.
4′ After Pulisic played a deft pass into the midfielder, Pobega took a shot, but Hummels reacted brilliantly to his retreat and blocked the shot.
