Fiorentina 1-1 Monza : La Viola unable to defeat tough Monza

Fiorentina’s goal from Arthur Cabral was insufficient since Monza rallied behind Carlos Augusto to earn a point at the Stadio Franchi.

The Viola made Alessandro Bianco his Serie A debut despite the absence of Rolando Mandragora, Riccardo Sottil, and Nico Gonzalez. While Stefano Sensi and Nicolo Rovella had to be replaced, Pablo Mari was back on the bench for Monza just over two months after being stabbed in an unprovoked attack at a supermarket.

After 13 minutes, Cristiano Biraghi nearly scored a stunning goal when his in-swinging corner smacked the base of the far post.

With an incredible rocket from the narrowest of angles into the close to the top corner, Arthur Cabral opened the scoring and gave the keeper no chance.

Although Monza could have levelled when Andrea Colpani came sliding in to meet a Dany Mota  ball from the right and missed from seven yards, Di Gregorio was able to stop a Bianco rocket with his gloves.

On the hour mark, Monza regained possession of the ball when Carlos Alberto was poised to volley from 10 yards after Patrick Ciurria’s right-side cross.

Pablo Mari made his comeback mere weeks after being injured in a supermarket attack towards the end of October as Di Gregorio stopped a Cabral attempt.

Andrea Petagna shot the rebound over the bar after Pietro Terracciano made a terrific save on Dany Mota Carvalho, and Di Gregorio then shown wonderful reactions to stop Martinez Quarta’s header.
