A 1-0 victory over Juventus at San Siro let Inter to maintain their perfect start to the year 2024. This victory allowed Inter to go four points clear of Juventus at the top of Serie A.
The match between Inter and Juventus, which took place at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening, was always going to be a very close contest. However, the home team emerged victorious with a tally of 1-0, which was extremely significant.
Inter was able to maintain their position as the top team in the Serie A standings thanks to an own goal scored by Federico Gatti, which proved to be the deciding factor in the game and ultimately separated the two teams.
As Inter defeated Juventus in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday night, they dealt a devastating blow to Juventus’ chances of winning the Scudetto. Inter’s victory was well-deserved. Inter was able to legitimately take the lead because they were on the offensive end of the field for the majority of the game, while Max Allegri’s team practically never managed to put Yann Sommer to the test.

The strategy that Juventus appeared to be employing was to simply defend until the very end and then attack the Nerazzurri on the counterattack. When Weston McKennie ran from the midfield line towards the box, it appeared as though that strategy was successful. Afterwards, he served Vlahovic on the left side of the court; however, the Serbian striker failed to maintain the pace of the game, which allowed Pavard to block his effort.
The result of the Derby d’Italia was determined approximately 37 minutes into the match. Pavard attempted to do an acrobatic scissor kick after Nicoló Barella crossed the ball from the right side of the box into the middle of the box. As the Juve defender attempted to anticipate Thuram’s header, he only managed to gently touch the ball, which caused it to bounce on Gatti’s chest and into the back of the net. It was appropriate for the score to be 1-0 during the halftime break.
Inter continued to push after the restart, but they were met with Szczesny on their path. The pattern did not change.
