Marseille is in talks with Inter Milan to sign Alexis Sanchez

Marseille are in talks with Inter Milan to sign former Arsenal and Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez has fallen down the Inter pecking order since joining the club in 2020 following his disastrous time at Manchester United, but a move to the Stade Velodrome would provide the former Arsenal star with Champions League games and the potential of more minutes. The Chilean international is thought to be interested in a move to Marseille, but the deal is said to be contingent on the 33-year-old reaching a severance pay arrangement with Inter.

Inter want to get rid of Sanchez’s €6 million-a-year contract in order to bring in new players this summer. Last season, the veteran was largely deployed as a substitute, playing 886 minutes and scoring five goals for Inter as they finished second in Serie A. Sanchez played the fewest minutes in the league during the 2021-22 season since joining at the San Siro in 2019.

Marseille have had a productive transfer window thus far this summer, completing eight permanent signings as they prepare for Champions League competition. Ex-Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has joined the French club permanently after a loan spell last season, while Porto’s Chancel Mbemba has joined on a free transfer. Sanchez would join Polish striker and new permanent signing Arkadiusz Milik at the Orange Velodrome, where he tallied 20 goals in all competitions on loan from Napoli previous season.
