Milan 1-1 Cremonese: Rossoneri failed to win against struggling Cremonese

At San Siro despite having all the possession, Milan failed to beat Cremonese. Davide Okereke scored the winning goal for Cremonese while Messias scored the equaliser for Milan.

Following their 1-1 draw  to Roma in their most recent match, Milan opted to start seven different players from their bench. The positions held by Maignan, Calabria, Bennacer, and Diaz were not changed. Following their own 1-1 home draw against fellow relegation candidates Verona, Cremonese made six substitutions in their starting lineup.

Origi took a shot on goal from the edge of the penalty area. The shot was relatively harmless and directed directly at Carnesecchi, making it simple for the goalkeeper to make the save. Ballo-Toure pounced on a through ball and kept Milan’s possession deep inside of Cremonese’s half of the pitch. However, the team from Lombardy did not budge, so Milan had no choice but to pass the ball back.

With a straightforward goal, Saelemaekers put the home team in front. The Belgian received a direct pass over the top and then took a left turn to get around Carnesecchi. The goal was being reviewed by the VAR official. After a brief pause, the referee signalled for an offside and awarded a free kick to Cremonese. Saelemaekers had just miscued his run onto Kalulu’s ball. It was unfortunate for him, but hopefully it served as a lesson for the guests.

Bennacer took another corner kick for Milan on the team’s left side, and he swung it towards the far post. In spite of the fact that Cremonese couldn’t clear it decisively, they were awarded a free kick very quickly. Origi broke free down the left sideline and took a shot with the goal of finding the bottom right corner. Opportunity for Milan. Carnesecchi dove to the ground to block the shot, but in doing so he gave up a corner kick.

Cremonese came dangerously close to being taken by surprise when De Ketelaere broke through the high line of the visitors and attempted to circle Carnesecchi. Quick as a flash, the goalkeeper dashed off his line to punch the ball clear of danger. The cross that Ballo-Toure attempted to send in from the left was blocked. The counterattack that Afena-Gyan intended to launch was thwarted by Thiaw.

Cremonese was awarded a free kick near the centre circle thanks to a foul committed by De Ketelaere on Meite. They committed a large number of players to the fight. The first time he tried to head it away, Milan was successful. Another attempt was made by the underdogs, but Lochoshvili’s header was deflected away for a Milan goal kick.

Cremonese was careless with the ball and Milan was able to break out of their own half as a result. Diaz attempted to deliver a cross into the penalty area, but Chiriches was able to clear the ball out of danger. The corner on Milan’s right side went to them. At the near post, De Ketelaere came face to face with it. The Belgian never gave the impression that he would be able to keep his header down.

Afena-Gyan was tasked with chasing after the ball after it was lobbed forward by Cremonese. The Ghanaian eventually succumbed to the thaw and collected it with composure. Origi manoeuvred his way to the left side of the field and looked for De Ketelaere and Saelemaekers in the centre, but he was unable to locate the appropriate pass.

Leao dashed to the left and discovered Diaz unmarked near the spot where the penalty would be given. The Cremonese didn’t waste any time in rushing the Spaniard’s drive, and they were successful. Because Ballo-Toure was taken down by the pile of players, Milan was awarded a free kick. Carnesecchi was able to get a firm grasp on it, and Afena-Gyan attempted to launch a counterattack, but he ran into some opposition.

Okereke controlled the long ball forward, dribbled past Thiaw and Kalulu and slotted the ball past Maignan inside the left-hand post. This gave Cremonese a chance for a miracle as it appeared that Okereke was the one who would make it happen.

Milan cornered them down the right side of their field. Cremonese did an excellent job defending it in order to win another. Again, the team at home sent the ball into play, and this time Leao blasted a shot that went high and wide into the side netting.

Messias broke The hearts of Cremonese AS The substitute for Milan took the free kick and immediately shot it straight at the goal. It deflected off of a defender who was on the opposing team and went right by the stranded Carnesecchi.
