In Salerno, despite Boulaye Dia scoring a hat-trick, Salernitana were unable to pull out the victory despite Fiorentina’s persistent pressure. The game ended in a six-goal drama.
Salernitana gained the advantage when Boulaye Dia beat the offside trap, dribbled past Igor, and drilled in at the near post, rather than opting for the angled drive, to beat Pietro Terracciano.
The home team was dealt a blow when Norbert Gyomber went down with an injury to his thigh. Gaetano Castrovilli’s attempt was blocked by Lorenzo Pirola, and Nico Gonzalez’s shot from a very favorable position went high over the crossbar. The Argentina international patched things up for his earlier mistake by leveling the score with a towering header at the far post off of Dodo’s cross.
However, Dia’s play as of late has been remarkable, and he has scored again for Salernitana. This time, he ran at Igor and Dodo, cut inside, and drilled a shot from 14 yards out into the bottom right corner.
After Jonathan Ikone almost made a good connection with a cross from Cristiano Biraghi and Nico Gonzalez shot high over the crossbar, Giacomo Bonaventura made a pass using the slide rule, which allowed Jonathan Ikone to escape the offside trap, dribble around Ochoa, and score from a difficult angle.
Ochoa made a spectacular reaction save on Luka Jovic, and then the ball ricocheted off of Lucas Martinez Quarta’s shin on a corner, but Salernitana was given the penalty when Pasquale Mazzocchi was brought down by Terracciano. Salernitana was able to convert the penalty. Dia scored a conversion to finish off his hat trick.
It was not yet over because Biraghi’s free kick was taken from an awkward angle and was intended to find an easy finish. However, no one touched the ball, and it went straight into the far bottom corner of the goal without anyone touching it.
