After 3 decades of wait, Napoli was about to win the scudetto with 6 games to spare at Stadio Maradona. But late equaliser from Salernitana spoiled the party

On this crucial occasion for Napoli, Victor Osimhen started the line and led an attack that also featured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Lozano. Guillermo Ochoa, a custodian for Mexico, was in charge of containing them all.

A nearly flawless opening for the home team came when Lozano sprinted down the right flank and flicked a beautiful ball back in for Osimhen, who pulled his strong header wide at the near post. A ball was once again dragged into Ochoa’s path by an Osimhen header.

The Napoli attack launched a fusillade of balls into the opposition’s penalty area during yet another prolonged siege. It was obstinately defended, and the guests are unperturbed. Osimhen rose in the box from a free-kick and pushed a smooth header towards the net for the game’s best opportunity. Ochoa made the save, but the ensuing corner was erratically placed.

Meret had to punch a ball out of the way that clipped across his box when Salernitana attempted a rare venture down the other side of the field with Dia. Anguissa attempted to make a play but was stopped by the defence. In this game, the visitors were creating some excellent jabs.

Mazzocchi gave Olivera a free kick, which Napoli took and pumped aimlessly into the penalty area. Anguissa fired a long-range shot through a crowded box, but Ochoa dived low to make a fantastic save. The keeper handled that skillfully.

Kvaratskhelia attempted to dip a shot in from a distance, however he was not far enough from the danger area. Kvaratskhelia attempted to go around Salernitana’s left side of the defence and earned a corner. Napoli nearly threaded the needle during the short, quick play before the opportunity vanished.

After a long wait, Napoli took the lead at the hour mark and went on to win the scudetto. Olivera stuck up a header from a corner that he dragged past Ochoa at the left post and into the middle of the box. As the extremely important goal was scored, the Maradona Stadium crowd went wild.

Elmas came very close to increasing the advantage. He started out on a sweet little solo run before rolling his shot into the six-yard box and just missing the right post. Raspadori had a good opportunity to make it 2-0 but his shot was blocked. Napoli was the seconds away to end this contest.

Salernitana attempted through Kastanos from a distance, giving Meret an unexpected workout. To stop the dipping shot, the custodian had to get down low. On the other end, Osimhen made an attempt from range and necessitated a save.

Salernitana’s late equaliser put the celebration on hold after the guests ruined Napoli’s parade. Dia, who entered from the right wing, nutmegged Osimhen, and drifted through the defence, made a magnificent solo effort. He finally beat Meret with an incredible curler into goal.
