On Wednesday, Michel Adopo’s lone goal in 10-man Torino’s 1-0 victory at the San Siro following extra time eliminated AC Milan from the Italian Cup at the last 16 stage.

Adopo scored the game-winning goal for Torino in the 114th minute of a competitive match that saw Koffi Djidji dismissed with 21 minutes left in regulation. Brian Bayeye, a fellow countryman, assisted Adopo with a low cross.

Torino will play either Sampdoria or Fiorentina, who play each other on Thursday, in the quarterfinals next month.

The remaining four games are set for next week, with Roma hosting Genoa in the late game on Thursday. Milan lost after blowing a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Roma on Sunday. Milan started with a backup lineup. Napoli’s seven-point advantage over the Italian champs at the top of Serie A was increased thanks to that draw.

Over the course of the game, Stefano Pioli’s worn-out team fired 32 shots, but only eight of them were successful, with just three coming from inside the penalty area. In Serie A, Milan will visit Lecce on Saturday after Napoli hosts Juventus, who are tied with Milan in points, on Friday.
