Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored a brace in his 2nd Serie A game to help Napoli defeat promoted Monza 4-0 on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Kvaratskhelia increased his totals to 3 goals in two matches since joining from Dinamo Batumi. He also managed to score on his league debut in Napoli’s 5-2 victory at Hellas Verona. Prior to March, Kvaratskhelia played for the Russian team Rubin Kazan, but after Russia invaded Ukraine, she switched to Batumi.
In its first league match at home this season, Napoli dominated the first half, but its supporters had to wait until the 35th minute for Kvaratskhelia to break down the Monza defense with a long curling shot inside the right post.
In stoppage time of the first half, Osimhen rushed down the wings and retained a defender to make it 2-0. After the break, Osimhen missed with a header before Kvaratskhelia scored in the 62nd with another flash of brilliance. He dodged both defenders while facing two of them before shooting within the far post. For Monza, Petagna assumed he had equalized, but VAR disallowed the goal due to a foul.
In the dying minutes of added time, Kim Min-jae, a defender, scored the game’s final goal with a header to give Partenopei a strong victory.
