SERIE A | SASSUOLO 1-3 UDINESE: 10 Man Sassuolo Crumbled Against Raging Udinese

Last Updated on 11/09/2022 by

Sassuolo took the lead through Davide Frattesi and battled until the very end, but with just 10 players left, they ultimately gave up to a Beto brace and Udinese’s fourth straight victory.

Berardi, Muldur, Defrel, Junior Traore, and Romagna all sustained injuries for the Neroverdi. The Friulani were coming off a 4-0 thrashing of Roma, but they were without Jaka Bijol and Adam Masina for the next six months.

Gerard Deulofeu set Isaac Success up on the counter, but the striker blasted his first-time attempt into the stands when he really ought to have done better.

Davide Frattesi was set free down the right with a cunning no-look pass by Armand Laurienté, and the midfielder blasted in with his right boot from the tightest of angles to give Sassuolo the lead.

Moments later, Laurienté put Marco Silvestri to the test with a low, hard shot that the goalkeeper parried away. There were also handball and penalty appeals when a glanced Udinese header bounced around in the crowd. At the stroke of halftime, Ruan Tressoldi brought down Success as he was sprinting toward goal just outside the box, reducing Sassuolo to 10 men.

Pereyra hooked a ball back from the byline, and Beto soared above his defender to nod in from six yards as Udinese applied tremendous pressure. After a shoddy clearance, Lazar Samardzic tested Andrea Consigli from the edge of the area, and Beto had another header that was just wide of the mark.

In stoppage time, Samardzic gathered from the edge of the box on another Pereyra assist, and curled a right-footed shot into the far bottom corner to give Udinese the lead. When Lovric sent Beto through, Sassuolo crumbled, and he quickly added a third goal while maintaining composure in a one-on-one situation against advancing Consigli giving Udinese the win and 3 points.
