Barcelona is prepared to make a major investment in Juventus star Federico Chiesa in what is expected to be another busy summer in the transfer market for the Catalans.
Apart from the possibility that the Old Lady will miss out on the Champions League this year, Juventus is also facing some serious legal problems related to salary payments made during the COVID-19 pandemic and violations of FFP rules. Not to mention that they have already lost 15 points this season due to financial irregularities.
In light of this, Chiesa might become available; according to Calciomercatoweb, Juventus may demand a fee of between €70m and €80m.
Barcelona is thought to be dealing with its own FFP issues and may need to lower player salaries, but with some clever accounting, the Catalans may be able to succeed.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Xavi will sell Dembele and Ferran Torres, who both play in the Italian’s preferred position, in order to acquire Chiesa.
Torres’ departure wouldn’t come as a shock because he has only scored five goals and provided one assist all season, but letting Dembele, who is arguably Barcelona’s best player when healthy, leave would be a major mistake. The coach may have decided to consider his options because the Frenchman recently sustained another injury.
